

An OBD-II compliant vehicle can use any of the five communication protocols: J1850 PWM, J1850 VPW, ISO9141-2, ISO14230-4 (also known as Keyword Protocol 2000), and more recently, … None of our interfaces support the SAE J1850-VPW and J1850-PWM protocols used by most US-market pre-2008 GM and Ford products, so VCDS cannot work at all on those cars. These modifications can be done with any other Chevy engine using a PCM that supports J1850 or CAN bus.


Almost every vehicle implements only one of these signaling protocols.
